After-school Tutoring and Enrichment

Every Child is Different

Lets face it ... every child is different. Their needs are different. Therefore, we need to have methods that address those differences.

Some students are more comfortable in their own homes rather than at our tutoring and enrichment center. Although some tutoring services offer a student/teacher ratio of 7 to 1 or better, some students may become distracted or held back from their optimum learning potential by the presence of others. They may be swayed by feelings of competitiveness, shyness, inferiority, or any number of emotions which can prevent them from learning. Here at Blossom, we strive to remove any barriers that may stand in the way of your child reaching their fullest potential

One-to-One Ratio

With our one-on-one ratio, a coaching relationship typically develops between tutor and student. The student feels comfortable asking questions and receiving corrections.

Blossom tutoring develops and reinforces the habit of studying at home. Blossom students not only advance during the tutoring sessions, but they progress well between lessons. With better study skills and confidence, students often improve even in subjects in which they are NOT being tutored. Learning how to learn is invaluable!

In-home Tutoring is Convenient

Most of our parents and students appreciate the convenience of tutoring in their homes. There is no travel time, and the parents can do as they please in their homes, while we work with your child. If you do not want tutoring in the home, but still want the one to one setting, we can set up the sessions at the library.

We use New York State Certified Teachers

Just as we do in our learning centers, Blossom exclusively utilizes NYS certified teachers as our tutors. Our instructors have been certifed in elementary education and have spent many years working and developing yound minds. All of our instructors have bachelor’s degrees, and most have graduate degrees in education

Before meeting with your tutor for the first time, we will inform you of his or her credentials and experience. We are careful about choosing a tutor for you, yet if at any time you feel it is not a match, we will be happy to find a new tutor.

Blossom Elementary Learning Extension is a full service early childhood development center for K through 6th grade children. We provide after school educational opportunities for students outside of their school day. It is an academic environment for your child to grow and have fun through learning, and is staffed by high quality certified teachers, dedicated to your child's success. Services are based on the NYS Elementary Core Curriculum and offered for a variety of academic areas including reading, writing, math, and standardized test preparation, as well as enrichment opportunities in science, social studies, foreign language, music and the arts. Children will have fun while learning through the use of both small group and one-to-one tutoring, academic workshops, enrichment opportunities and fun educational games and activities.

Summer Tutoring and Enrichment

Ready, Set, GROW -

Program for kids entering 1st grade

This class is designed to promote the literacy development of children who have completed kindergarten and who are entering first grade in the fall. Instructional strategies will include shared, guided, and independent reading and other literacy-oriented activities, such as music and art. The development of reading strategies will be emphasized. Activities will involve children in all language modes: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Basic math activities will also be incorporated with some literature selections. The children will experience a first grade setting. The emphasis is on providing experiences that are developmentally appropriate focusing on listening skills, following directions, and time on task

Building Blocks for Success

K-5

This course is designed for students needing reinforcement of grade level skills and concepts in Mathematics, Reading or Writing. Opportunities will be provided for students to strengthen foundational skills included in grade level content using the NYS Common Core Curriculum.

Young Authors - Enrichment

Program for kids entering 1st or 2nd grade

This enrichment writing class is designed as an extension for students who are experienced writers and enjoy writing. Your child will create and illustrate books using themes from well-known authors. Art techniques will also be taught to the young authors. What a wonderful class to show off their great writing and illustrating skills.

Jumpstart - Enrichment

K-5

This enrichment program is designed for students who wish to get a Jumpstart on next years curriculum in a particular subject matter. Whether your child is struggling in school or your little genius is looking to get a head start, JUMPSTART is a unique program that will provide your child with the tools and the confidence to excel in the upcoming school year.
